Ossola, Raffaello

Painter and draughtsman, *1954 in Locarno (Switzerland)

Raffaello Ossola was born in Locarno (Switzerland) in 1954 . Since 1990 he has been living and working in Como. He qualifies at the School of Art Lugano and began to work as an advertising agent, without leaving painting. His personal research in painting began with a close study of the shape and developed lately into the informal genre (first personal exhibition in Lugano, Galleria Centro Design in 1978). In 1990 was the turning point that led him to a production that, in contrast to his first period, expresses his need of finding existential answers through images. Nature and introspection are used to remove the surface patinas and to venture beyond, to get the essence: memories, recollections lost in a remote future or in a far-away past, which interlacing among themselves, lead to a re-discovery in the present of the most authentic feeling, the universally out-of-time expression, typical of human existence, revealed through nature.
