The artist paints exclusively in oil; characteristic of her is that she works largely in the “Alla Prima” technique, whereby she mixes the colours directly on the canvas. Typical for her is also her meticulous approach, in which even large surfaces are designed with brushes in the thicknesses zero to four.

In the last three years, she has devoted herself to working on a series that deals with the role of women in society and in relationships with men. These works include humour and seriousness with a taste of bitterness the same time. The manner of painting is as complex as the preliminary work for each artwork. In the first step Svetlana Magenheim-Gegg stages her paintings with the technique of a collage made of a variety of self-made photographs. For her this is how the greatest possible expressiveness evolves.
