About the artist

The artist becomes famous above all thanks to one colour and multicoloured linocuts of which she produces approx. 250 individual works each with only a small number of copies. There are several sets on the themes “North Africa”, “Hunting”, “Animal Life” , and “Dance of Death”. In addition she illustrates scientific works, textbooks and books for adolescents which makes her widely known especially in Austria. Numerous works of Bresslern-Roth who remains a very active person until advanced age, are in public possession in Austria, Italy, England, The United States of America, Australia and New Zealand. Norbertine von Bresslern-Roth’s works are presented with many prices and awards.

Numerous visits to Italy, Dalmatia, Ticino, Hungary, Germany, North Africa and to various zoological gardens all over Europe. Her oil paintings mainly show animal compositions, more rarely persons are depicted. Prefers painting exotic animals because of their colourfulness. Bresslern-Roth makes use of an extraordinary technique similar to fresco: she applies matt yet bright oil paint onto strongly grounded jute.
